Nigerian Women Voters have been Challenged to equip themselves with good politically sound background that will lead to success in their aspirations.
This challenge was thrown to the women when, delegation of the Nigerian League of Women Voters NILOWV Plateau state chapter, paid the Plateau State Deputy Governor Elect, H.E Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo a congratulatory Visit in her resident in Jos City the capital of Plateau State.
Recieving the Leaguers in her House, the Deputy Governor Elect, expressed sadness that, despite the large number of women who aspired for various positions women who aspired for various positions in Nigeria, yet, there are only few women in the elective positions.
Ngo Piyo advised NILOWV to Step up practical political steps on how women will gain better supportive means of winning electoral positions in Plateau State and Nigeria.
“HONESTLY, I’m pained that Plateau State has just two female members in the state House of Assembly, and it has been like that House of Assembly, and it has been like that since our time in 1999 when I was a member representing my constituency ” said Ngo Piyo.
Concerning Partnership that NILOWV sought from the deputy governor elect towards the actualization of it’s vision, She assured the League that, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang’s Commitment on women and Youth empowerment is resolute.
Presenting the congratulatory message to the Governor Elect, Spokes person of the delegation, Garos Gang said, NILOWV rejoices with Ngo Piyo over her emergence as the State deputy governor and pledged to give her all the necessary support to succeed.
In a related development, NILOWV also visited and encouraged it’s State Secretary, Honourable Jiritmwa Goyit who was a state Assembly candidate of PDP for Kanke constantly but lost the elections at the general poll.
